A Spectacular Celebration of Music: Recap of Gala and Laureates' Concerts

Updated: Sep 3, 2023

Dear Music Enthusiasts,

We are thrilled to share the magic and excitement of not one, but two incredible musical events that recently graced the stages of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. The Gala Concert on August 19 and the Laureates' Concert on August 27 were nothing short of spectacular, showcasing the remarkable talents of our young performers and creating unforgettable memories.

Gala Concert: A Night of Elegance and Artistry

The Gala Concert held on August 19 was a mesmerizing evening that brought together elegance, artistry, and sheer musical brilliance. The magnificent Centennial Peace Plaza was adorned with an air of anticipation as performers and guests gathered to witness an enchanting showcase of talent.

Snowbelt Orchestra, with its 15-member ensemble led by the maestro Greg Hillis, delivered an exquisite performance that set the stage for the evening. The soloists, each a rising star in their own right, graced the stage with their incredible skills and undeniable stage presence. The audience was treated to an array of performances that ranged from classical piano concertos to vocal solos, each leaving a lasting impression.

A highlight of the Gala was the guest performance by composer and concert pianist Alexander Peskanov and Lu-Ann Peskanov, who presented the vibrant and energetic "Irish Poem" to the delight of the audience. The heartfelt speech by Dr. Wael Khoury, President of the CCGF, added a touch of passion to the evening.

Laureates' Concert: A Resounding Success at One World Day

The Laureates' Concert on August 27 was a grand celebration of music and cultural exchange, held in the historic Italian Cultural Garden as part of the 77th One World Day festival. With roads blocked and a multitude of activities, attendees immersed themselves in a day of diverse cultural experiences.

As the afternoon sun graced the garden, the stage came alive with the sounds of over 50 winners of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places and special prizes. The Snowbelt Orchestra, conducted by Greg Hillis, provided the magnificent backdrop for these young talents to shine. The concert resonated with piano concertos, vocal solos, duets, and more, creating an atmosphere of pure musical delight.

The dedication of teachers and families was palpable, as these young performers took the stage multiple times with unwavering enthusiasm. The heartwarming applause and support from the audience affirmed their exceptional talent and hard work.

A Grateful Note of Appreciation

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the teachers, families, and supporters who have nurtured these budding talents with unwavering dedication. Your efforts have contributed to the success and magic of these concerts, allowing these young artists to shine.

The Stars of Summer competition and festival takes pride in providing a unique platform for these musicians to perform for the general public, and the overwhelming appreciation from the audiences reflects its success.

As we look ahead to the future, we are excited to announce that preparations are already underway for the 5th Anniversary of The Stars of Summer competition. We eagerly anticipate welcoming more families and music lovers to join us in this musical journey and celebration.
