Alexander Peskanov’s American debut as orchestral soloist came with the National Symphony under Mstislav Rostropovich. He has since appeared internationally with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, SABC Symphony Orchestra, Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic, as well as, in the United States with the Baltimore, St. Louis, Houston, Utah, Richmond and Pacific Symphonies. Mr. Peskanov has performed at the Wolf Trap, Aspen, Grant Park, Newport, Seattle, Vancouver, Monterrey, Sarasota and Flagstaff festivals, and in coast-to-coast recitals including a piano recital at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center as part of the series, “Russian Splendor,” the prestigious Van Cliburn Foundation Series in Ft. Worth, Texas, and the Gina Bachauer Piano Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah. Among the illustrious musicians with whom he has collaborated are Mstislav Rostropovich, Maurice Andre, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Yo-Yo Ma and Ilya Kaler. Alexander Peskanov is also a successful composer of classical works, including piano solos, piano concertos and chamber music. He has written eighteen concertos for piano and orchestra, including Concerto for Two Pianos/8 Hands, commissioned by the American Piano Quartet and premiered at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary and Concerto for Two Pianos/4 Hands. Since 2004, Alexander Peskanov has been the featured American composer for The Greater Laurel MTA Concerto Competition, composing sixteen concertos. In the 2017- 2019 seasons, Peskanov’s Azery Rhapsody for Piano and Orchestra, along with his Spring Concerto, were premiered at Carnegie Hall and London, England. His piano concertos have been premiered in Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia), Tallinn (Estonia), Vancouver (Canada), Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide (Australia), Durban and Pretoria (South Africa), Friedberg (Germany), Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Bogota (Colombia), and Zacatecas (Mexico). Alexander Peskanov currently serves as President of the Brooklyn Music Teachers Guild. He is the founder of the BMTG Intercontinental Piano Competition – Music of Immortal and Living Composers. Piano Concertos by Alexander Peskanov have been featured in “The Pianist’s Guide to Standard Teaching and Performance Concertos” by Karen Beres and Christopher Hahn (Alfred Music). Selected works chosen for the 2020-2024 NFMC bulletin are Concerto #1 for piano and strings, Concerto #8 (Spring Concerto) and five trios for six hands: Chinatown Dragons and four selections from Little Rock Suite. Peskanov compositions are also featured in the Australian Music Examinations Board Syllabus and ABRSM. He is the recipient of three special ASCAP awards. Peskanov recordings include a CD of his own piano compositions entitled "Spirits of the Wind – Peskanov Plays Peskanov" which has been featured in numerous broadcasts on National Public Radio stations. Other recordings include music by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt and Scott Joplin. He has recorded for Naxos Record’s American Classics series and Musical Heritage Society. Mr. Peskanov graduated from the Stolyarsky School of Music in Odessa, Ukraine, and received his Masters and Bachelor degrees at The Juilliard School in New York. He is also the author of the series of six books entitled: "The Russian Technical Regimen for the Piano," published by Willis Music.
